Worldwide Meeting - November 1, 2008 There is no point in making an effort to establish a connection between the spiritual terminology and the reality that you already see. Once you enter the vichara consciously, in time, you simply lose interest in all of that. No matter how true and inspiring the spiritual and religious discourse may have been, it has not done you much good. There are many things that can provide you with some passing comfort and clarity, but none of them works to put an end to the idea that life is suffering, and that you are in danger here. Als je tegenwoordig googelt op de Engelse term 'spiritual teaching', krijg je in minder dan een halve seconde meer dan een half miljoen hits en dat zijn dan alleen nog maar websites waarin die woorden in de tekst voorkomen. Als je echter Boeddhisme, Hindoeïsme, Advaita Vedanta, Christendom of Islam intypt, krijg je in korte tijd een paar miljoen hits. Dat is overigens alleen nog maar wat er op het internet te vinden is; er moeten inmiddels toch ettelijke miljoenen spirituele lessen in de hele wereld bestaan en dat mag best opmerkelijk genoemd worden. Die hele business van spirituele teachings begint een beetje op een jungle te lijken, een wilde, ongetemde en waanzinnige warboel. Dat is eigenlijk best verrassend, want als je diep genoeg graaft, kom je al snel tot de conclusie dat de meeste van die lessen in de kern een aantal overeenkomstige inzichten en begrippen herbergen. Eram convins că tot ce atinge spiritualitatea, sânt simple povești pentru a ne alina disperarea și sentimentul de lipsă de sens a vieții pe care o trăim ; viață moartă, fără scop, în care găsim din când în când câte ceva care să-i dea sens, ca în cele din urmă să ne găsim iarăși în fața unei vieți lipsită de scop. There is no boundary to your mind; there is no place where your mind is not. There is no distance between you and me, although there is separation between you and me, and that separation is the greatest gift of all. When we become involved in spiritual practices, we come to the idea that all is one and separation is bad. But that is childish. All is one, and separation is part of it. A Meeting in Santa Monica on September 28, 2008 It has been clear to me for some time that the whole cloud of spiritual understanding and spiritual insights from the past is of no consequence in the actual possibility of being free of fear, misery, and suffering in one's own life. I mean the whole cloud of the sutras, the shastras, the Upanishads, the sweet insights, and the more recent writings by Wei Wu Wei, for example, whom I have loved inordinately. I just mention him because that is a much more modern example of what I am talking about, and it seems to speak more directly and clearly to the modern sensibility than do the Upanishads, the Heart Sutra, or the Diamond Sutra. | Our work is to teach the method of the vichara (self-inquiry) to all who will receive it. The only problem anywhere to be found is the false belief that you are at the mercy of your life, and the only solution is the truth, which is everywhere and always present and self-evident. Ridding oneself of the false is as easy as repeatedly tasting the truth of being here, unmovingly, unchangingly here. This repeated looking directly at oneself is the infallible method of the vichara. Although our meetings are free of charge, they are certainly not free of cost. The money needed for this work must come entirely from the generosity and compassion of those who, like us, have seen for themselves the immense worth of spreading this good news to all humanity.
