I had the pleasure of meeting you at the Gangaji Tahoe 2001 retreat...
Dear John, I had the pleasure of meeting you at the Gangaji Tahoe 2001 retreat. We had a very nice chat on the day that we resumed speaking. I spoke to you of coming to Austin, but life quickly found me moving to Dallas and getting all caught up in a new phase of my career. I continued to follow Gangaji. I even hosted video satsang for a while. Recently, however, I had been feeling restless spiritually. I had this quick little affair with Osho. I became very enamored with his particular form of genius and rebelliousness. Something, however was not quite right for me. His work seemed too much in the head, and TOO rebellious. We had subscribed to Eli's podcast because of my partner's interest in the Enneagram. Lately, however because of all of the stupid drama surrounding Eli, your talks were coming through on the podcast instead of his. I had remembered our meeting. How calm, present and open you were when we met in Tahoe. I did not know your teachings however. I found myself enthralled with the talks. I downloaded your book and have been slowly digesting it. You are so clear. I needed Ramana back in my life and you were the messenger. Thank you for your simple, uncompromising message. Thank you also for making it so available. The podcasts and your blog along with Youtube videos have been a true blessing for me. I am a recovering Southern Baptist. One of the things that I like about that faith is the encouragement to tithe where you are spiritually fed. I will be sending my first tithe to you shortly because you have fed me spiritually in a way that I can't even describe. We will also be seeing you in the new year for an intensive or retreat. I want to see you again in person and spend time with you in satsang. I feel that the time is perfect for me to do that. I rediscovered your teaching at the perfect time. I can hear you over and over saying: "Whenever you think about it, as often as you can, experience what it feels like to be." So easy, so powerful. You truly have my thanks. I am so happy to have met you again. I look forward to seeing you again and to supporting your great work. My best to you and Carla, Love,

Worldwide Meeting - October 4, 2008 The only thing that is certain is you, but nothing can be said that is at all helpful in describing you or explaining you, or even pointing to you. You are here. The only certainty there is, is that of your presence. I am not speaking of the sense of self, although the focusing of attention on the sense of self, or the I am, or beingness, or by whatever name it may be called, will in fact result in the vanishing of the sensational experience that is the sense of self. In the moment of its vanishing, what remains is you. That's the incredible value and utility of Ramana's suggestion that we look at ego and grab it by the throat. In so doing, that experience vanishes and what remains is you. You, face to face with you.

Our work is to teach the method of the vichara (self-inquiry) to all who will receive it. The only problem anywhere to be found is the false belief that you are at the mercy of your life, and the only solution is the truth, which is everywhere and always present and self-evident. Ridding oneself of the false is as easy as repeatedly tasting the truth of being here, unmovingly, unchangingly here. This repeated looking directly at oneself is the infallible method of the vichara. Although our meetings are free of charge, they are certainly not free of cost. The money needed for this work must come entirely from the generosity and compassion of those who, like us, have seen for themselves the immense worth of spreading this good news to all humanity. Please help provide financial support for the work of making this method more widely available in the world by making a donation or a monthly pledge in any amount now. All donations to the River Ganga Foundation are fully tax-deductible.
